“A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky, unbidden, and seems like a thing of wonder.”
~Susan Orlean~
Here in the Old North State, winter weather has a much more crippling effect than in the hills of Pennsylvania where I grew up. A few inches of snow with sleet and freezing rain on top means spending the day at home instead of braving the roads that the local DOT cannot clear quickly enough for safety. It also means there’s a good reason to walk around town visiting the local shops that open to welcome those of us that can walk to them. A trip to the local coffee shop on a day like this is a treat for sure.
